Barking Riverside

EnvFab were enlisted by Morgan Sindall & Volker Fitzpatrick (Joint Venture) to supply the fabrication and installation of various balustrades, handrails, steps, barriers, gates and GRP Platforms, for the development of Barking Riverside station in London.

EnvFab was tasked with providing GRP Platforms, Stairs, Access Gates, Handrail and guardrails for the new viaduct, connecting the existing Barking station to the new Riverside Barking Station, which opened on 18 July 2022.

The Viaduct consisted of over 2,500m of 1.1m high balustrade. At intervals of 150m the viaduct had abutments and openings to allow for the steel columns which support the overhead power lines. At these junctions, access gates and platforms were necessary for maintenance.

Due to the nature of a covered Viaduct, each location varied, so many meticulous measurements/surveys were taken and EnvFab designed the system to ensure a continuous eye-pleasing flow to the Handrail/balustrades and platforms was achieved.

It was of the upmost importance that all TFL/Network Rail specifications and standards were followed.

EnvFab achieved a fault-free design, supply and installation of all GRP scopes.
